ANONYMIZED UNTIL CLIENTS APPROVE
University Automation Pipeline
Marine science researchers spent hours waiting for sequential analysis to complete, limiting research velocity. I assisted in building a public tool enabling concurrent analysis processing, saving researchers on turnaround time.
THE CHALLENGE
The lab ran bioinformatics analysis pipelines sequentially, researchers had to wait for one analysis to complete before running the next. A single analysis took 4–6 hours, and the lab couldn't tackle multiple concurrent projects efficiently.
WHAT WE DID
I designed and deployed a public-facing automation tool that enabled parallel processing of analysis workflows. The system used containerization and job queueing to let multiple analyses run simultaneously while remaining accessible to researchers without DevOps expertise. I standardized the workflow and reduced manual configuration.
THE OUTCOME
Researchers achieved a noticeable reduction in analysis turnaround time. Workflows that previously took 4–6 hours now completed in 2–3 hours.
Customer Service Workflow Automation for a Major American Healthcare Company
Customer service employees spent significant time on routine, low-value tasks instead of resolving complex customer issues. I scoped and automated the repetitive work, allowing employees to focus on high-value human-centric interactions.
THE CHALLENGE
Customer service teams spent a substantial portion of their day on rule-based, repetitive work: policy lookups, claim status checks, filling out documents, eligibility questions, and form routing. These tasks were necessary but low-value, consuming agent capacity that could have been directed toward complex problem-solving and customer relationship-building.
WHAT WE DID
I designed workflow automation systems that handled routine, automatable tasks through intelligent triage.
THE OUTCOME
Employees shifted to more complex customer issues, policy exceptions, and substantive conversations. Employee satisfaction improved as they spent less time on rote tasks and more time doing the work they were trained for. The team handled increased customer volume without proportional staffing increases, and complex cases were handled by more experienced staff, improving resolution rates on difficult issues.
